In this market, it is best not to go in with any contingencies on being able to purchase a new home. It is so competitive right now that if you go and put an offer on a house with the contingency of selling your current home, the seller more than likely won’t even consider you. It is way better to figure out your temporary living situation between homes and to sell your current home before placing offers on new ones.
